Wood vs laminates according to Samrat Mica.

Here at "Samrat Mica" we talk to our clients & buyers and often face the same question, what is the difference between wood and laminates, which material is better to use in the interior? It's true, everyone wants to choose best solution for their home, sometimes it is thought that wood is so much better to use than laminates. We, at "Samrat Mica" have made a list of 10 points, which may change such opinion. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to contact us!

  1. Many people can’t even tell the difference between laminate and wood surface.
  2. Laminates are produced in so many different designs, that it can replace any other material in interior design.
  3. Laminate designs that look like wood cost much less than actual wood.
  4. There are much more options how to install the laminate, even without the use of glue and without the help of professionals (unlike installing wood).
  5. Laminates are not easy to scratch or crack, so there is no need to be afraid of breaking one while applying.
  6. Wood is not possible or not recommended to apply in bathrooms and kitchens because of the moisture. Laminates are water-resistant and applicable in every room or place.
  7. Laminates are resistant to surface water whilst the quality remains the same in hot and cold temperatures.
  8. Harsh substances, such as coffee or nail polish, are easily cleaned from laminate surfaces.
  9. Wood is not sun resistant, it can fade if exposed to lot’s of sunlight. This will not happen to laminate
  10. Finally, laminated surfaces are known for their long lasting beauty and freshness.

Indian touch

Lately this blog was overloaded with interiors and design ideas that are traditional Indian or inspired by Indian culture and crafts. Starting with the houses in Goa and beautiful textiles of “Les Indiennes”. The interior pictures below are quite different; they still have that Indian touch, but are more or less cosmopolitan & modern. Mixing styles and colours created eclectic yet beautiful interior for a family flat.

The wild India. Farmhouse in Kashid.

The farmhouse itself is not too Indian. It's only few décor details, materials or the number of cushions give away that it's actually built in Kashid, Maharashtra. With lots of open spaces, beds, couches and pillows it looks like the ultimate laziness house. It makes this farmhouse a perfect place for summer or weekend getaway. Or laid-back living.

Pink sky in Pune

Sometimes it's hard to write about the creations of interior designers and architects. Simply because they are beyond words. Here is perfect example for that: vacation retreat by Opolis, architect team from Mumbai and Pune. According to them, "most complex and beautiful solutions are often the simplest". This particular building, house on the ridge, won several awards for its architecture and looking at the pictures it becomes clear why.

Indian interiors that matter

Two weeks ago you read about interiors of Tirupati & architecture in Jaipur. India continues to be an infinite source of inspiration for interior design. This time enjoy pictures of traditional indian decor and in between other amazing things, pay attention to the beautiful painting in the second picture and petite coffee-table in the last one. Sometimes it's really little things that matter.

Pearls of Jaipur

The Pearl Academy of Fashion is located 20 kilometers away from Jaipur, in desert type place climate. It took much of an effort for architects from Morphogenesis company to create a building which would represent the seriousness of an Academy, provide students with creative interaction spaces and be suitable to the hot & dry environment. The result is big, bright-coloured building in a nice contrast with endless sky of a desert.
